Synopsis

Anna loved to play among the beautiful trees and flowers in Officer Diggle’s garden next door.  One sunny day she noticed a big root bulging up from the bottom of a tree, she bent down to pull it up but as she pulled hundreds and hundreds of beetles came scurrying out from beneath the tree, followed by the biggest slug you have ever seen. The insects left a hole big enough for Officer Diggle’s house to be swallowed up.

Anna rushes to the village to inform Officer Dibble, who in turn asks for the help of Polly, Lola and Lucy.  They are advised that beetles and slugs love lavender and liquorice and the only way to rid them from the village would be to set a trail leading to the Lake, so this was done.  The lure worked, enticing the many beetles and the giant slug to the Lake.  When the successful mission is accomplished and the beetles and monster slug return to their true resting place under the island in the middle of the Lake, Anna suddenly wakes up only to find it was all a strange dream.  Officers Dibble’s garden is returned to its original state and all is as it was.
